Allergen testing


AltaBioscience offers laboratory based testing for a wide range of allergens and can verify the absence or quantify their presence in a variety of foodstuffs.



Legislation, such as the EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU FIC) which came in to effect in 2014, require information about allergen ingredients to be provided for food that is prepacked, sold loose or served when you are eating outside of the home. This EU-regulation 1169/2011 specifically requires nutritional labelling for 14 allergens on the regulatory list.


Certified to ISO 9001:2015, we use the recommended enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based method of analysis, to accurately detect and quantify allergens in food, feeds, special dietary products and environmental swabs.

As part of meeting the quality requirements, our processes are monitored and validated to meet the exacting standards required for our clients.

Sample requirements

We require a minimum of 10g of sample (50g for meat products) and will retain your sample for a minimum of 3 months.
