AltaBioscience Strengthens Scientific Expertise with Two Key Appointments
Redditch, 23/06/2026
AltaBioscience is pleased to announce the appointment of two outstanding scientists to its growing team, further strengthening the company’s expertise in peptide chemistry, protein analysis and laboratory operations.
The addition of Danielle Lewis as Senior Scientist and Laboratory Operations Lead, and Dr Diana Gimenez as Peptide Chemist reflects AltaBioscience’s continued investment in scientific excellence as the company expands its capabilities to meet increasing demand from customers across academia, biotechnology and the food industry.
Enhancing laboratory leadership and analytical capability
Danielle, Senior Scientist and Laboratory Operations Lead, brings many years’ experience in analytical science, laboratory management, and quality systems, working in highly regulated biotech environments.
In her previous roles, she has supported research and development, and product validation of non-invasive diagnostic tools, maintaining internationally recognised standards such as ISO 17025 and ISO 9001. At AltaBioscience, she will help ensure the company continues to operate to the highest scientific and operational standards, reflecting one of our core values and ongoing commitment to reliable, efficient and exceptional customer service.
Alongside her lab operational responsibilities, Danielle will work across our amino acid analysis, protein sequencing and peptide synthesis services to generate high-quality, reliable analytical data.
Experienced peptide chemist adds complementary skill Set
Dr Diana Gimenez has a strong track record in peptide chemistry, chemical biology, and peptidomimetic design, with a focus on developing novel peptide-based tools to investigate and target complex biological systems. Diana has previously held postdoctoral research positions at Durham University and the Universities of Leeds and Birmingham.
She has synthesised hundreds of peptides with post-translational modifications and unnatural amino acids, as well as longer and constrained peptides via bioconjugation and chemical approaches such as azide–alkyne click chemistry. Her expertise also spans biophysical, biochemical and structural analyses including peptide characterisation using NMR spectroscopy, molecular dynamics simulations, fluorescence anisotropy binding assays, isothermal titration calorimetry and mass spectrometry.
With more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in leading international journals and several awards, Diana’s appointment is a great addition to our peptide chemistry team, bringing internationally recognised expertise that further strengthens our support for customers with challenging peptide sequences and non-standard modifications.
Growing our team to deliver more for our customers
This next phase of growth reflects our commitment to innovation, quality and service excellence.
Our Managing Director, Dr Lisa Mansell, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Diana and Danielle to the team. As a leading peptide synthesis and analytical company, we are committed to investing in our people and attracting exceptional talent.
